It all began in 1947 with one man’s vision – to create a loving and caring home for seniors where they could thrive in their later years. His name was the Rev. Dr. James P. Beasom, Jr. and that vision soon became reality with the creation of the California Lutheran Home for the Aged. Built atop a quiet hillside on 10 serene acres of lush gardens and mature landscape in the town of Alhambra, the California Lutheran Home became renown for its care and focus on 'whole-person' wellness. The mind/body/spirit philosophy of care continues today.
In 1998, California Lutheran Homes merged with FACT Retirement Services and the Pacific Home Corporation to form what would eventually become Front Porch, Southern California’s largest nonprofit provider of senior living communities. Today, Dr. Beasom’s dream is alive and thriving at The Alhambra retirement community and the adjacent Lutheran Health Facility. Located atop the same quiet hill, The Alhambra serves seniors with the love, respect and care they deserve. And California Lutheran Homes and Community Services continues its social ministry by providing spiritual care and financial support for The Alhambra’s residents.
